Titles

In our media lesson, we looked at the order that the titles appear in some films to help us with our project. Here is what we found:

The Departed:

  • Distributor, production company/companies appear first
  • Warner Bros
  • ...Presents
  • In accosiation with...
  • 'In Boston some years ago', (start of film)
  • No more titles after this

Narc:

  • Production companies
  • Paramount
  • Lions Gate Films
  • Splendid Pictures
  • ...Production (usually the director)
  • TiaraBlu Films
  • No more titles

Shutter Island:

  • Paramount Pictures
  • ...Presents
  • ...Production
  • In accosiation with...
  • Shutter Island
  • No more titles

Mirrors:

  • 20th Century Fox
  • Regency Films
  • ...Presents
  • ...Production
  • ...Film
  • Major actor
  • Title of film, Mirrors
  • Less important actors, order of importance
  • Costume designers
  • Music
  • Casting
  • Film editor
  • Production designers
  • Executive producers
  • Producers
  • Screenplay
  • Script
  • Director

We discovered that the films that don't have many titles may do this because there is no point as the film will have major, well-known actors in, so that is the reason why many people decided to go see that particular film. Low budget films are more likely to have more titles as they will have actors are not very well-known and feel the need to credit them at the start of the film.

Watching these title sequences helped my group with our project so we know what other titles we can put into our title sequence to make it more realistic.
